If you have some spare time and would like to support Shekinah by coming along to Volunteer then there may be some wonderful opportunities for you.

There are several positions we are looking for within our organisation, where we could do with some additional support.

Volunteer position descriptions:

Administration/Research:

In our Plymouth and Torquay locations we are looking for people who are confident in both computers and telephone to help us to man our reception areas or help with research. There will be administrative duties like data entry and general typing. Confidence using internet searching will be a great advantage. We could also do with some admin support at our Growing for Life project in Paignton.

Reception:

At our 24 Project in Stonehouse Plymouth we occasionally need a receptionist to attend for short periods of time. Confidence with the telephone and computer required.

Kitchen Support:

At our Drop-In Centre in Bath Street Plymouth we need support on our kitchen, helping to prepare meals and serve tea etc.... Experience in catering environment would be useful.

Growing for Life Horticultural Project:

This project can offer volunteering opportunities in all areas of growing such as seed sowing, potting on, planting out, composting and harvesting as well as much more! Experience is beneficial but not essential. This is an outdoor role so all weather clothing essential. In addition to the horticulture side of the project admin, marketing, events organisation and other volunteering opportunities are available, for which skills and experience would be required.

Re:store Charity Shop:

Our wonderful Restore charity shop in Plymouth is concentrating on the retro and vintage market and with this new branding is becoming increasingly popular. We are looking for volunteers to help man the shop, sort and arrange goods. The shop is also looking to expand by taking mobile stalls to events, so help there would also be extremely helpful. Retail experience would be hugely beneficial. Transportation for goods collecting would also be hugely helpful.

Re:use White Goods Store:

This store in Plymouth sells reconditioned white goods like Fridges, freezers and washing machines etc... We are looking for people to help to man this operation.

Events:

Shekinah often have events where it is good for representatives to attend to help with collections etc... If you would be interested in supporting any of these please let us know. This may involve evening or weekend support with Bucket collections, concerts, Open days and so on across the region.

They will inform you what positions are available and arrange a meeting with the appropriate manager.
